a poor classmate

Longer than 20 years ago, I don't remember that it was in my high
school time or university time that I saw an American film which is
about a man who was out of work. The master in the film was at his 40's
with a beautiful wife and some children. He could not earn any money for
his beautiful wife and lovely children.
One day, while he was wandering about in the street he found a waste
newspaper on ground that said his alumni were going to hold a alumni
meeting. He had not met his old classmates for almost 20 years. He missed
them. He decided to attend the meeting. But he was too poor to find a
suitable shirt to wear under his old jacket. He just had a collar to
wear under.
While the meeting was going, some one of his old classmates found
that his wallet was lost.
Nearly all of the old classmates had taken off their jackets to prove
that they had not got the wallet except for the poor man.
The poor man did not want his old classmates to know that he was so
Poor as to wear a false shirt under his jacket.
All the eye lights of his old classmates' focused on him. Now he knew
That he had better take off his jacket to prove that he was not a thief but
at the same time to prove that he was too poor.
He took off his old jacket and the false shirt----a collar of a shirt
Was seen by all of his old classmates.
He left the meeting with a hurt heart...
This film has hurt me for over 20 years...
